Manager's greeting
I'm Hirose, the manager of Miyakomon.
Thank you very much for visiting our website.
The store has grown through trial and error and many twists and turns with the concept of "making it easy for anyone to wear kimono." It first opened on Rakuten in September 2010. The site will be relaunched in 2023, marking its 13th year.
At first, it was casual, like the rental services for tourists in Kyoto, and aimed at young people, especially women in their 20s, but we have gradually corrected course and now offer a range of formal items.
What we found out through our efforts was that many people "want kimonos." This was a surprise, as we had always heard the phrase "kimono abandonment." Our store was trial and error with an unprecedented business of simple kimono delivery rental, so at first we didn't know "who" wanted "what kind of kimono," "for what purpose," or "what kind of kimono," and to be honest, we misunderstood.
By listening carefully to what our customers have to say, we have learned a lot of things. They are using our products for purposes that we would never have thought of (we would like to introduce these on another occasion), they prefer the standard classic style that comes to mind when you hear the word "kimono," there is a considerable demand for them among men, they are used overseas, and they are used for business purposes.
It seems that kimonos are especially popular among families for milestone celebrations such as Shichi-Go-San.
I think that this kind of thing varies from store to store, but as we continued doing this, the direction of our store began to take shape.
The most common comment from our customers is, "I was so happy to be able to wear a kimono myself."
We often hear comments such as, "It was my dream to wear a kimono myself. I'm so happy that my dream came true," and "When I told them I wore it myself, everyone said it looked good, which made me happy." Our customers are more pleased than I expected, and I'm really glad that I'm doing this job.
Miyakomon is a little different from your average kimono shop, but we think it's good to have a kimono shop like this. We will do our best to respond to "customer feedback" so that many people can wear kimonos.
After using the service, please send us your feedback by completing a survey or review. We are constantly improving our kimonos to make them easier and more beautiful. Your feedback will help shape the kimonos of the next generation.
Thank you for your continued support.
