Everyone wore furisode kimonos to celebrate the first sunrise of the New Year.
Happy New Year
On New Year's Day 2024, all of our staff wore furisode kimonos to watch the first sunrise of the year at Tokyo Tower. Everyone was dressed in their finest attire, which was very glamorous. We heard that it was also well received by visitors to the tower.
Welcoming guests to watch the first sunrise of the year must have been a lot of work, getting ready and dressing in the kimono while it was still dark and the bells were still ringing. Many places are closed early in the New Year, and there are almost no stores or kimono dressers available to help with kimono dressing. Therefore, this time we had our staff dress the furisode themselves. Even though it is a one-touch type, each part of a furisode is larger than a regular kimono, making it difficult to put on by one person. We had staff members pair up in pairs to support each other.
We also had a staff member who was learning tea ceremony and was knowledgeable about kimono, so he worked hard as an instructor. Most of the other staff were not familiar with kimono, but they practiced several times during the busy end-of-year period, and everyone wore them beautifully on New Year's Day. The results are truly wonderful. Thank you!
We believe that the visitors to the Tower were able to welcome the New Year in high spirits after seeing everyone in their furisode kimonos.
Our easy-to-wear kimonos are being improved little by little based on customer feedback, and the obiage and special obi ties for this furisode have been upgraded. (The obiage has been folded to an appropriate width, and the special obi ties are heavy, so the strings have been positioned higher to make them more stable.)
I hope you all have a wonderful year ahead. I hope it will be a bright one.
